well I almost always listen to at least a sample of a release to confirm whether it’s actually “psy” or not but sometimes I’ll get lazy with releases by artists that have made psybient in the past (such as Zoungla), and just assume they’ve made more psybient without actually listening to it… (this is the only release that I didn’t listen to this week)… so my bad for assuming but cmon to be fair Zoungla himself has a psybient tag on the bandcamp page which made me think it was safe to call it that.

So you’re right about the Zoungla release, after listening to some of it I agree it’s not psybient so I’ll change the genre. But your tone suggests that you have issues with other releases besides the Zoungla one… care to help me out and elaborate?

These category vote results are a bit tricky because :
1) this question was optional
2) answers were in free text mode.
3) we didn’t had time / energy to check and search each artist one by one.

as a results => a lot of well established artists have been submitted. We tried to remove some of “older” ones for results, however as you noticed we still have some of “not so fresh” artists in results.

SO technically it is not “new” is more like “recent”.

Sorry for inconvenience, i don’t have magic solution to not have this situation.

For the sake of completeness I felt compelled to list that one since it was released in the same week as her Moments Of Eternity album, which totally does belong here (listed in this week’s post under the psybient / psychill genre).

So ignore the bass releases and just focus on the psybient ones then if you’re that disappointed, or are you similarly unhappy with the state of psybient as well? I’m just the messenger here, never claimed that the two genres were the same, that’s why they’re separated to begin with. But that’s not to say that psybass has no place here, like it or not it is an important part of the psychedelic scene.

look, you can rest assured that every psybient release that has come out this year is covered here. If you want to only see the psybient releases, type “psychill” into the search box above the table and it will narrow it down. I have no regrets about extending the reach of this project beyond typical psychill and to encompass all of psychedelic ambient, downtempo, and midtempo. You wish it was more focused on psybient but it already contains all of it and more, you just don’t feel like taking the time to really look through the table and find what you’re looking for. The genre column is there to help, just ignore the genres you don’t like.
